Pizza 3 Movie Review: Even the cheap thrills can't salvage this letdown installment

Pizza 3 poster.

Barring a handful of examples, film franchises as a concept haven't yet made great inroads in Tamil cinema. One of the successes in this world of franchises is the Pizza franchise that has been rolling out installments at a regular frequency. All three parts of the horror franchise have been helmed by debutants.

The first part (2012) saw the then debutant Karthik Subbaraj bring in a fresh voice of storytelling that used horror only as a plot device to delectably tuck in a neat little surprise in the final act. 11 years later, comes Pizza 3, again helmed by a debutant, only to prove that a legacy isn’t just enough. A well-fleshed-out and well-thought story that can actually give you chills running from its writing and not relying on mere sound effects is more important.

Gone are those days when jump scares, haunted mansions and dense white makeup were enough to give us cheap thrills. It was more important to deliver an actual tale of dread rather than resorting to just jump scares. Interestingly, the first two films of the Pizza franchise used a con angle to subvert the cliches of the genre. Unfortunately, Pizza 3: The Mummy, while trying to play up the horror emotion, fails to understand its study on the audience, who has seen enough of white make-up and mystery figures lurking around.

As typical of any horror film, Pizza 3 has two stories running, crossing paths at one given time. There is a restauranteur Nalan (Ashwin Kakamanu), whose personal problems become multifold when the paranormal gets involved. A sample of this would be a particular dessert that strangely keeps appearing in the kitchen. He also has a paranormal investigator girlfriend Kayal (Pavithra Marimuthu), who barely has anything to do in the story.

On the other hand, a series of murders that strangely gets connected to our hero. Amid all this, there is a 700-year-old cursed mummy doll. Like how we saw a sample of aghast in the opening credits in cult films like Ring or Urban Legend, Pizza 3 too has one. But it makes you so confused that you nearly forget to make any sense of it as the credits roll. In addition to this, Pizza 3 also tries to take itself too seriously that it misses having fun, which is something that Pizza immensely had. Under the guise of tugging your emotional strings, the film elaborates on a back story that might trigger your memories regarding one specific violence that took place in Chennai a few years. But its execution and usage as an induction to the horror do not work out naturally. In its ambitious idea to highlight the apathy of the violence, the film forgets to connect its dots. If the ghosts are as mighty to avenge the perpetrators, why is there an involvement of our protagonist, whose connection to their story hangs in there by a thread? But defying such logic, Pizza 3 tries to weave around a tale of convolution and hauntings that are of no use.

Pizza 3 might have some of its fear moments and there are plenty of jump scares, but its filmmaking is so archaic that it still needs scenes like TV shows debating the presence of ghosts, to make the audience feel they are watching a ghost story. Adding to the woes is the third act which fails miserably and is rushed to only complete the film. While Ashwin tries his best to save this sinking ship, it’s only in parts he is able to do so, as the story becomes a steady downward slope. With neither evident ambition nor exemplary craft, Pizza 3 becomes a letdown to the franchise.

‘Pizza 3: The Mummy’ Ending, Explained & Film Summary: Who Killed Vishwanathan?

Pizza 3 The Mummy Summary Ending Explained Kayal, Prem, and Nalan

Pizza 3: The Mummy is the third film in the franchise, and it makes us privy to a character named Nalan and how he witnesses some strange and eerie things happening in his newly opened restaurant. The film does have a story to tell, but Mohan Govind and his team make it excruciatingly hard for us to sit through the duration of the film without getting bored. For lack of a better word, the editing is poor, and the slow camera pans every time a revelation has to be made really tested our patience. The director wasn’t able to build up any kind of suspense, and from the scene blocking to the dialogue and the performances, everything fell short of the mark. So, let’s find out what was happening in Nalan’s restaurant and if he is able to solve the mystery in Pizza 3: The Mummy .

Spoiler Alert

How did ghosts appear in Nalan’s restaurant?

Nalan and Kayal had been together for quite some time now, but Kayal’s brother, Prem Kumar, never accepted their relationship. He wanted Kayal to marry a guy named Aravind, but Kayal had made it very clear that she was not going to leave Nalan, even if it meant going against her own brother. Prem never missed an opportunity to insult Nalan, and he told him that he was not fit to marry his sister. Prem wanted a rich and successful guy for Kayal, and Aravind exactly fit the criteria. Nalan, on the other hand, had taken a huge loan to open his restaurant, and a lot was at stake for him. One day, somebody left a small figurine of a mummy in Nalan’s restaurant, and he kept it on a shelf as he couldn’t find out who it belonged to.

Earlier, at the beginning of Pizza 3: The Mummy , we saw that the same idol was given to a man who made the mistake of bringing it to his house, after which he started seeing spirits. That idol was more than 700 years old, and it had so much power that, through it, the spirits could transcend into the real world. Strange things started happening at Nalan’s restaurant, and he knew that even if he tried to make someone understand, they wouldn’t believe a word of it. One fine day, one of the workers found a sweet dish kept in the fridge, and they assumed that Nalan would have made it the night before. But Nalan had not made it, and he was as surprised as others to find it kept in his refrigerator.

Every night, Nalan could very distinctly hear the cries of a girl coming from his kitchen, but whenever he went there, he didn’t see anybody. He had no clue that the idol of the mummy kept on one of the shelves had opened a sort of portal through which the spirits were able to come into the mortal world. Nalan knew that Kayal had developed an app through which she claimed that they could connect with people from the supernatural realm and he decided to tell her everything and see if they could figure out something through the app.

Did Nalan Kill Aravind And Veeranarayanan?

One night, in Pizza 3: The Mummy, Na lan got a call from a man named Veeranarayanan, who told Nalan over the phone that no matter which restaurant he called, the call always got redirected to Nalan’s place. He asked Nalan if he could get something to eat, and though Nalan didn’t have anybody to deliver the food, he still accepted the order and decided to make the delivery himself. Something strange happened with Veeranarayanan that night, and it felt like he was stuck in a time-loop. Veeranarayanan opened his door when Nalan came, took the food, and paid him cash, but as soon as he kept the food on the table, the same thing happened all over again. Veeranarayanan had heard of deja vu, but it all seemed way too real, and he couldn’t understand if he was hallucinating or if Nalan had actually come twice.

That night, Veeranarayanan was murdered, and the blame fell on Nalan, as he had gone to his place just minutes before he had gotten killed. The same thing happened with Aravind, whom Prem wanted to get his sister married to. Nalan had decided to go with Aravind so that he could inform him about his and Kayal’s relationship but before he could do that Aravind was murdered. Prem knew that this time, he would find some evidence that would incriminate Nalan but the forensics report for both Veeranarayanan and Aravind showed that they had committed suicide. Prem was baffled when he came to know about it, and he didn’t understand how Nalan was doing all this. Little did he know that it was not Nalan but the ghost that was murdering people. Nalan knew that the spirit in his kitchen had to do something with these murders, and he was adamant to find out why it was doing so and how these people who were getting murdered were linked to each other.

Who Was Mithra?

Kayal and Nalan went to Rajendran, the librarian, so that they could find out more about this spirit’s identity. Nalan came to know that before he opened his restaurant, there used to be a famous sweet shop at that place. A woman named Rani used to run the shop, and together with her daughter, Mithra, she stayed in the apartments nearby. One day, while going to school, Mithra’s auto rickshaw broke down, and she had to wait for a few minutes before the driver repaired it. Mithra went to a nearby park, and she saw Nalan playing cricket with his friends there. Nalan struck the ball, which accidentally hit Mithra on the head. The girl fell to the ground, and the auto driver immediately took her to the hospital. Nalan was not able to see Mithra’s face, and he didn’t know all this while she was sitting there making a sketch of him. Though Mithra recovered, she was diagnosed with post-traumatic amnesia.

Mithra was having a hard time because she often had these phases where she went completely blank and had no memory of what she was doing or where she was going. The watchman of the building came to know about her condition, and he took advantage of her. Every day, that man used to molest and abuse the little girl in the lift, and Mithra, because of her memory loss, could never remember what she went through. The secretary of the society, named Vishwanathan, came to know what the watchman was doing, and he thrashed him for putting the little girl in such misery. We thought that now that the secretary knew, he would make sure that Mithra was safe, but it turned out that Vishwanathan was a demon himself.

One day, in Pizza 3: The Mummy , Rani, found her daughter in Vishwanathan’s felt. Veeranarayanan and Aravind were also present there, and a helpless Mithra, writhing in pain, lay on the bed. Vishwanathan, Veeranarayanan, Aravind, and the security guard, together, killed Mithra and Rani. They put Mithra’s body in the kitchen and set it on fire, then chopped Rani’s body and buried it at another place to confuse the police and make it look like only Mithra had died in the accident.

Who Killed Vishwanathan?

Mithra and Rani’s spirit were able to come back through the powers of the mummy, and now, one by one, they were killing the perpetrators. Vishwanathan had gotten to know about it, and he had called ghost hunters, practitioners of black magic, to come and help his cause. The ghost hunter had told Viswanathan that he would have to take them to the place where he had buried the body, and then by burning the skull, he would make sure that the spirit returned from where they came from. Meanwhile, Nalan, Prem, and Kayal also arrived at the quarry where Viswanathan had buried the body. Nalan and Kayal had gone to Prem earlier and told him everything they knew.

During Pizza 3: The Mummy’s ending , Mithra, and Vishwanathan came face-to-face, whereas Rani went to stop the ghost hunters from burning the skull. Prem tried to stop Vishwanathan and told him to surrender, but the man went on a rampage and was ready to kill anyone who came in his way. Nalan picked up a gun and pointed it at Vishwanathan, and we realized that Mithra was using her powers to control Nalan’s action. Nalan shot Vishwanath and killed him, and Prem, who had witnessed everything firsthand, knew that he had done the right thing. Vishwanathan didn’t deserve to live, and what he and his friends had done with Mithra was unpardonable. Mithra and Rani transcended into the supernatural realm as they had taken their revenge and Nalan felt like someone had lifted a heavy burden from his shoulders.

Pizza 3 The Mummy Ending Explained

Pizza 3 The Mummy Ending Explained: Directed by Mohan Govind, the film stars Ashwin Kakumanu and Pavithrah Marimuthu in lead roles. The movie is an addition to the Pizza series that began over a decade ago and last released its second film, Pizza II: Villa in 2013. The Tamil horror drama also stars Gaurav, Kavitha Bharathi, Anupama Kumar, Abi Nakshatra, and Kaalli Venkat in supporting roles.

The first film in the Pizza franchise was directed by Karthik Subbaraj and released in 2012. The franchise has been known for creating good horror thrillers surrounding the theme of restaurants and delivery service. The latest one also takes place in the central backdrop of a restaurant.

Pizza 3 The Mummy Plot

The Tamil Horror thriller has a fresh storyline and is not related to the previous works of the franchise. It revolves around a small ancient Egyptian statue that has a strong power to invoke evil spirits around the place it is placed. After the statue unexpectedly finds itself at Nalan’s (Ashwin Kakumanu) restaurant, strange things begin to unfold.

Nalan is in love with Kayal (Pavithra Marimuthu), an app creator through which one can communicate with evil spirits. While Nalan and Kayal are serious about each other, her brother Prem (Gaurav Narayan), a police officer, is not impressed with their pairing and is looking for reasons to get rid of Nalan. Amid this, Nalan finds himself in a soup after he gets entangled in a murder case after delivering food at the victim’s house.

Pizza 3 The Mummy Ending Explained

The film’s main mystery revolves around the spirit that has found its way out because of the mummy statue and has been creating havoc at Nalan’s restaurant due to the same. Early on, Nalan doesn’t come face-to-face with it, he merely notices the legs of a woman’s body with lots of blood from cuts and bruises in the pantry area of the kitchen. Despite being frightened, he is focused on finding out the motive of the ghost and understanding why he is involved in the story if the spirit is seeking revenge.

Whose Spirit Sought Revenge in Pizza 3 The Mummy?

Pizza 3 The Mummy Ending Explained still 2

The spirit that haunts everyone at the restaurant and also seeks revenge is that of a young girl named Mithra (Abi Natchatra) who was killed by four perpetrators who physically abused her after she was diagnosed with short-term memory loss following an accident. Through Nalan, she avenges her and her mother Rani’s death which happened at the hands of these individuals. One of her prime targets is Viswanathan (Kavitha Bharathi).

How is Mithra Connected to Nalan?

When the story begins, it feels like Nalan would have a connection to the ghost and whether he played a part in killing her although the back story of Mithra reveals that it was due to a ball hit by Nalan while playing Cricket that she suffers a brain injury which causes her to lose her memory. However, she does not hold him responsible for it. It is also revealed in the end that the revenge is actually sought by Mithra’s mother’s spirit since the girl herself suffered from memory loss.

Who Kills Vishwanathan?

Pizza 3 The Mummy Ending Explained still 3

The last sequence of the film showcases Vishwanathan trying to get rid of the spirit by seeking help from a ghost hunter. In the meantime, Nalan teams up with Kayal and Prem to catch him. After getting caught by the three in a dilapidated place, there’s a fight that breaks out and while Prem tries to arrest Vishwanathan, the latter holds him in a tight grasp and tries to throttle him. A gun then appears at Mithra’s feet. Soon we see her pointing her fingers in the shape of a gun at Vishwanathan while the real gun is being held by Nalan. He then shoots and kills him.

The spirits of both Mithra and her mother appear after Vishwanathan is killed. After Nalan asks for forgiveness from them, Mithra forgives him and both spirits disappear into the night sky. In the last scene, the owner of the Mummy statue appears at Nalan’s restaurant and he hands it over to him.

So is it Nalan who killed viswanathan or was he under the influence of the spirit? I assume it was Nalan since the girl can’t remember and the mother’s skull was being burnt away.

It’s ambiguous

If nalan was then he would die earlier as mother and daughter already in his restaurant

Pizza 3: The Mummy Movie Review & Rating.!

pizza 3 movie review

Cast & Crew

  • Ashwin Kakumanu (Hero)
  • Pavithrah Marimuthu (Heroine)
  • Gaurav Narayanan , Kaali Venkat , Anupama Kumar (Cast)
  • Mohan Govind (Director)
  • C.V Kumar (Producer)
  • Ashwin Hemanth (Music)
  • Prabhu Raghav (Cinematography)

The third movie in the Pizza series, Pizza 3: The Mummy, recently debuted in Telugu. The movie, which was directed by Mohan Govind, features Pavithrah Marimuthu and Ashwin Kakumanu in the key roles.

Plot: Restaurant owner Nalan (Ashwin Kakumanu) is madly in love with Kayal (Pavithrah Marimuthu). A developer named Kayal is working to make an app that can speak with ghosts. Prem, the police officer brother of Kayal (Gaurav Narayanan), dislikes Nalan. A few strange things start happening in the restaurant all of a sudden.

The crew at the restaurant believes that Nalan is the one who made the sweet because it keeps turning up in the kitchen every day. Nalan, however, who has no knowledge of the food, begins to perceive bad energy in the kitchen. What took place next? The spirit is hiding in the kitchen, why? What does it exactly need? This is a key component of the movie’s plot.

Performances: The movie has a slow beginning, but it quickly picks up the pace with intriguing features. Excitement is generated by the sequences in which the main character and his employees encounter paranormal activity.

In the first hour, a couple of killings occur, and they are compellingly portrayed. The impact of a few scenes was significantly increased by the background score. In the movie, Ashwin Kakumanu delivered a competent performance. He skillfully displayed a range of emotions.

Despite having limited screen time, the lead actress, Pavithrah Marimuthu, did a respectable performance. As an officer, Gaurav did okay. Both Kaali Venkat and Abhi Nakshatra performed satisfactorily in their assigned tasks. Thank goodness the creators avoided include any pointless love tunes.

Technicalities: The film is a fairly nice one technically. Prabhu Raghav’s stylish cinematography perfectly complements Arun Raj’s powerful background score. The editing, particularly in the second half, should have been better despite the high production qualities.

Regarding Pizza 3, the director Mohan Govind performed a passable job. He has attempted to add a few thrills to a plot that is built on a template. At first, it was successful, but ultimately, the movie is just another revenge story.

Analysis: The movie’s first half is passable and skillfully jam-packed with exciting sequences and real jump scares.

While the first hour was passable, the second hour struggled to keep viewers’ interest. The staging of the scary moments and the background music are largely responsible for the first half’s success, but once the evil spirit’s origin tale is revealed, the film loses its tension.

In Pizza 3, a family is murdered, and, as in many other horror films, their ghosts seek retribution for the evil done to them. So, we can readily predict what will happen at the end even before the backstory begins.

To make this formulaic horror story intriguing, the creators ought to have added some surprises here. Additionally, the flashback segments feel a little strained. An ordinary second half and a disappointing finale ruined what otherwise may have been a respectable horror film.

Verdict: Pizza 3: The Mummy is primarily a routine vengeance thriller with a few exciting scenes. The movie’s first half featured some intriguing scenes, but the second half’s repetitive flashback sequences crush the anticipation that had built up until that point. The background score is good, and Ashwin Kakumanu, Pavithrah Marimuthu, and others did well. But as was already noted, the movie doesn’t provide anything new.

The Telugu version of Pizza 3: The Mummy, the third film in the Pizza series, has hit the screens today. Directed by Mohan Govind, the film stars Ashwin Kakumanu and Pavithrah Marimuthu in the lead roles. Let’s see how the movie is.

Nalan (Ashwin Kakumanu) owns a restaurant, and he is head over heels for Kayal (Pavithrah Marimuthu). Kayal is an app developer who is trying to create an app that can communicate with spirits. Kayal’s brother Prem (Gaurav Narayanan), a Police officer, doesn’t like Nalan. All of a sudden, a few mysterious things start happening in the restaurant.

A sweet keeps appearing in the kitchen every day, and the restaurant’s staff believe that it is Nalan who prepared the dish. But Nalan, who doesn’t have any clue about the dish, starts seeing an evil spirit in the kitchen. What happened next? Why is the spirit hiding in the kitchen? What exactly does it require? This forms part of the crux of the film.

Plus Points:

The first half of the film is decent and is neatly packed with thrilling scenes and genuine jump scares. Though the film starts on a slow note initially, it picks up the pace with interesting elements. The scenes in which the protagonist and his staff experience the paranormal activity creates excitement.

A few murders take place in the first hour, and they were depicted in a compelling manner. The background score was instrumental in enhancing the impact of a few sequences. Ashwin Kakumanu gave a neat performance in the film. He neatly exhibited different emotions.

The leading lady Pavithrah Marimuthu did a decent job though her screen time is less. Gaurav as a cop, was fine. Kaali Venkat and Abhi Nakshatra were adequate in their respective roles. Thankfully the makers didn’t add any unnecessary love songs.

Minus Points:

While the first hour was decent enough, the second hour failed to hold the attention. The first half works mainly due to the staging of the horror scenes and good background score, but the movie becomes unexciting with the reveal of the backstory of the evil spirit.

Just like many other horror films, here in Pizza 3, too, a family gets killed, and their spirits set out to take revenge for the injustice that happened to them. So right from the scene the backstory commences, we can easily guess what is going to happen over the end.

This is where the makers should have brought in some twists and thrills to make this predictable horror thriller interesting. Also, the flashback portions are a bit stretched. What otherwise could have been a decent horror flick was let down by a routine second half and a bad climax.

Technical Aspects:

Technically the film is pretty good. Arun Raj’s impactful background score is nicely complemented by Prabhu Raghav’s cool cinematography. The production values are good, but the editing could have been better, especially in the second half.

Coming to the director, Mohan Govind, he did an okay job with Pizza 3. He has taken a template-based story and tried to sugar coat it by adding a few thrills. It worked well initially, but in the end, the film is just another revenge drama.

On the whole, Pizza 3: The Mummy is a regular revenge drama that has a few thrilling moments. The film’s first half had some interesting scenes, but the routine flashback portions in the latter half kill the excitement created till then. Ashwin Kakumanu, Pavithrah Marimuthu, and others did well, and the background score is good. But as mentioned earlier, the film doesn’t offer anything novel.

Pizza 3 review: Mohan Govind’s ‘Pizza’ is the best among the franchise

Interestingly, the spirits in 'Pizza 3' look for revenge. The reason why they seek revenge makes the film special.

Director Mohan Govind’s Pizza 3 , which is the third instalment of the popular franchise that came into being following the immense success of Karthik Subbaraj’s Pizza (2012), is a reasonably good horror thriller.

The plot of Pizza 3 has nothing to do with the earlier stories in the franchise. It is set in a restaurant.

The story begins with a father returning home with a small ancient Egyptian statue which could easily be mistaken for a doll.

Though he does not know its history, he desires to keep the antique piece safe.

Little does he know that the statue was created by an Egyptian princess several centuries ago to contain all the evil energies that were around her at a time when her kingdom was surrounded by enemy troops.

The powerful statue, we are told, has the power to invoke evil spirits around the place it is placed.

Soon after, the scene of action shifts to a newly started restaurant that is being run by an enterprising youngster called Nalan (Ashwin Kakumanu).

Nalan is in love with Kayal (Pavithra Marimuthu), an app creator. She is now looking to create an app through which one can communicate with evil spirits.

However, Kayal’s brother Prem, a police officer, is not impressed with Kayal’s interest in Nalan and is looking for an opportunity to get rid of Nalan.

It is under these circumstances that one day, a customer who visits Nalan’s restaurant brings a doll which he forgets to take back with him.

Soon after, strange things begin to happen at the restaurant. A sweet with a divine taste keeps appearing in the restaurant’s refrigerator and the hotel staff think it is Nalan who has come up with a new recipe.

Initially, Nalan is surprised but not worried. However, he starts observing some movement in the night.

He instals a video camera inside his hotel’s kitchen to investigate and finds out that there are evil spirits moving inside. What happens next is what Pizza 3 is all about.

Best among the three.

To Mohan Govind’s credit, Pizza 3 is easily the best of the three parts of the franchise.

The story takes its time to gain intensity, but when it does, it commands your undivided attention.

True, like in most other horror films in Tamil cinema, the spirits in Pizza 3, too, look for revenge. The reason why they seek revenge makes the film special.

The director took inspiration for this part of his story from recent crime incidents that shook the conscience of the State.

Performances

The film has neat performances coming in from all its cast.

Ashwin Kakumanu, who is a seriously underrated actor, does an excellent job of playing Nalan. He effortlessly slips into the character and makes you forget that you are watching a film.

Pavitra Marimuthu as Kayal delivers what is expected of her.

Gaurav, who delivered three fantastic films as a director, plays the role of a cop and an overprotective brother to perfection.

Kaali Venkat as Daamu, one of the chefs in the restaurant, Anupama Kumar as Rani and Abi Nakshatra as Mitra also come up with fine performances.

However, the best performance in this film comes from Kavitha Bharathi who plays the character of Viswanathan.

The veteran actor delivers more than what is expected of him. His fine performance adds credibility to the plot and gets you more involved in the story.

On the technical front, Arun Raj’s background score is apt and plays a significant role in intensifying the tension one feels in crucial sequences.

Cinematographer Prabhu Raghav’s visuals are easy on the eye, though some of the scenes require them to be shot in the dark.

Pizza 3 Twitter Review: CV Kumar's Franchise Film Has Absolutely Zero Hype Among Audience

Pizza 3

Pizza 3 Twitter Review: The 2012 film Pizza directed by Karthik Subbaraj was celebrated by the fans. Pizza was an unusual attempt at a horror film. Vijay Sethupathi and Ramya Nambeesan acted in this film. Santhosh Narayanan composed the music and CV Kumar produced this film.

After the success of Pizza, the second part of this film was released in 2013. The film was directed by Deepan Chakravarthi and starred Ashok Selvan, Sanchitha Shetty and Nasser. The film received mixed reviews.

My next acting venture There is no way out of the horrifying cooking 🎃🍲 #Pizza3TheMummy trailer is OUT Now 🔪 https://t.co/8UIsiyGand In theatres from tomorrow! A @VSquareEnt release A @ThirukumaranEnt @icvkumar Production @MohanGovind8 @AshwinKakumanu @onlynikil — Gaurav narayanan (@gauravnarayanan) July 27, 2023

Will The Delayed Pizza Taste Good?

Currently, the third part Pizza The Mummy is out. Debut director Mohan Govind has directed this film. Ashwin, Pavitra, Marimuthu and Kali Venkat are playing the lead roles. Arun Raj has composed the music. While the film was earlier announced to release on May 12, the release of the film kept getting delayed. The film crew has informed that the film Pizza 3 will be released on July 28.

The director of the film Mohan Govind has given an idea of what kind of film Pizza 3 will be. Vijay Sethupathi's Pizza starts off as a horror film in the first part and eventually takes a comedy track. He said, "Pizza 3 would be a complete emotional horror film. Some aspects of the film are related to the previous two parts. But Pizza 3 has developed with a completely different storyline."

DD Returns Vs Pizza 3

The anticipation created by Pizza 1 and 2 among audience is completely gone now. Pizza 3 from CV Kumar fanchise has absolutely zero hype. In recent times, the number of horror films has increased and the fans get bored with such films. Due to this, the directors started mixing comedy in the horror film. It is important to note that Santhanam's DD Returns which is also relasing today is having great expectations as a horror comedy movie.

Pizza 3 Movie Review: Even the cheap thrills can't salvage this letdown installment

Rating: ( 2 / 5).

11 years later, comes Pizza 3 , again helmed by a debutant, only to prove that a legacy isn’t just enough. A well-fleshed-out and well-thought story that can actually give you chills running from its writing and not relying on mere sound effects is more important.

Gone are those days when jump scares, haunted mansions, and dense white makeup were enough to give us cheap thrills. It was more important to deliver an actual tale of dread rather than resorting to just jump scares. Interestingly, the first two films of the Pizza franchise used a con angle to subvert the cliches of the genre. Unfortunately, Pizza 3: The Mummy , while trying to play up the horror emotion, fails to understand its study on the audience, who has seen enough of white make-up and mystery figures lurking around.
