My Best Holiday: A Journey of Adventure and Fun

My best holiday took place in a tropical paradise, an island called “Sunshine Cove.” It’s like a place you see in travel magazines, with palm trees, crystal-clear waters, and golden sandy beaches. The moment I arrived, I knew I was in for a magical time.

Fun in the Sun – Beach Days

One of the best parts of my holiday was spending endless days at the beach. It’s like having a never-ending playground of sand and waves. I built sandcastles, collected seashells, and even learned to snorkel to see colorful fish swimming beneath the waves.

Exploring the Island – Adventures Await

Sunshine Cove was not just about the beach; it had lush forests and hidden trails too. It’s like stepping into an adventure movie. My family and I went on hikes, discovered secret waterfalls, and explored caves that were like nature’s mysteries waiting to be unraveled.

The Delicious Discoveries – Food Adventures

Food was a big part of my holiday. It’s like a culinary journey around the world. I tried exotic fruits, fresh seafood, and mouthwatering desserts. I even had my first taste of coconut ice cream, which was like a scoop of heaven in a cone.

One of the coolest things about my best holiday was making friends from different parts of the world. It’s like a global friendship festival. We played beach volleyball, shared stories, and even learned some words in their languages. It felt like a big international family.

Wildlife Encounters – Nature’s Surprises

Sunshine Cove was home to incredible wildlife. It’s like living in a National Geographic documentary. I saw dolphins leaping in the ocean, colorful birds in the trees, and even baby sea turtles hatching and making their way to the sea. Nature’s surprises were around every corner.

Starry Nights – Magical Moments

The nights at Sunshine Cove were like a dreamy wonderland. It’s like stargazing in the middle of nowhere. I saw shooting stars, made wishes, and had bonfires on the beach with marshmallows that were like little clouds of sweetness.

Learning and Growing – Life Lessons

My best holiday wasn’t just about fun; it was also about learning and growing. It’s like a classroom without walls. I learned about different cultures, the importance of protecting our environment, and how to appreciate the simple joys of life.

The Return Home – Bittersweet Goodbyes

As my holiday came to an end, it was like finishing a favorite book. Saying goodbye to Sunshine Cove and my new friends was bittersweet. But I knew that the memories and experiences would stay with me forever.

Reflective Essay: My Favorite Holiday Memory

I’ve had many wonderful holidays, but my favorite memory is that of a few summer weeks spent in Italy when I was about 13. My mom had to go to a clinic there for treatment (nothing severe or worrisome in any way, thankfully), and we all went together as a family and took the opportunity to have a beautiful vacation as well. Why this is my favorite holiday memory is because, besides the fact that it was the first time abroad for me, it was a vacation that has broadened my perspective, taught me a lot, and helped shape a bit of who I am today.

Although we did visit many famous places in northern Italy, we stayed mostly in a little town where some friends of my parents lived. While all the renowned attractions in the country were, indeed, marvelous, nothing immersed me in the Italian culture and nothing helped me understand the locals’ Latin spirit better than my stay in this picturesque, almost magical town that many haven’t even heard of.

At 13, I was quite a shallow girl who was interested mostly in having fun with the girls – and not much else. Thanks to the holiday spent in Italy, I also discovered my passion for music, which stayed alive in me to this day and will probably stay forever. My parents’ friends had a son, Ricardo, who was a pianist. While dad had repeatedly but unsuccessfully tried to make me study an instrument (and stick to it), when I heard Ricardo play, I instantly fell in love with music and felt a great desire to learn it. Ricardo taught me the first song I ever played on the piano, a silly, playful little tune that I still know by heart. Oh, and he was my first crush, too.

Another reason why I will never forget my holiday in Italy is the short trip we took to the Italian Alps at some point. I had never seen such majestic beauty before! The snow-covered peaks, the intimidating rocks, the fresh, harsh air – what an experience! And what I remember impressed me the most was the fact that, although this was a popular touristic area, the region was incredibly clean, still “natural”, with places that seemed to never have been touched by humans. Then, the shallow teen that I was learned what a real treasure nature is and how important it is to protect it.

Finally, there’s one peculiar memory from this vacation that stuck with me for reasons that I can’t say I grasp. It’s a pineapple & cheese sandwich that they sold at the clinic my mom went to for treatment. What a simple and ingenious mix of flavors – a sheer joy for the taste buds! I think it was the first time I tasted a mix of “regular food” and exotic fruit all in one, and I believe this is what triggered in me the pleasure I know have for experimenting with flavors in my cooking and coming up with unusual dishes. Looking back on it, this simple sandwich can also be a good metaphor for how you shouldn’t overcomplicate things in life – sometimes, the simplest solution and a bit of flair or courage can bring astonishing results.

My trip to Italy helped me understand more about other cultures, allowed me to find my passion (and let’s not forget about my first crush), taught me to cherish nature and do my best to protect it, and – maybe – inspired in me the courage to experiment (or, at least, it gave me the opportunity to discover that I adore pineapple & cheese sandwiches). This is why it is my favorite holiday memory.

“The confidence you bring — from listening to your body and being sure that you are allowed to feel however you want about your food choices — will do wonders for dealing with any criticism, comments or plate-policing from (mostly) well-meaning family members or people with their own food hang-ups.”

Planning what to bring or cook for a family holiday dinner may come with many anxieties and pressures, especially if you have critical family members. The article presents the thoughts of a psychotherapist and eating disorder expert who advises readers on how to best respect their own dietary needs and boundaries while embracing those of their families.

“During the holidays, people who otherwise avoid each other can be thrown together in family or social situations that force the issue. It can be painful to ask for forgiveness and risk rejection… but it’s something we sometimes have to accept.”

There’s no better gift to present to your family on holidays than forgiveness. In this article, psychology professor Robert Enright is interviewed to talk about the process of forgiveness, why people hold back from forgiving, and what helps people let go of their anger.

“Our vacations are NEVER dull. They usually entail at least one sick child/trip to the ER and one major catastrophe. It’s gotten to the point where we simply expect these things. As our pediatrician says, ‘I wish you people would just stay home.’”

Family holidays for this author cannot be complete without a disaster, from water-submerged diabetes testers to stolen backpacks and a kid getting wounded by a knife. Yet, despite these incidents, Weisenberg still sees the beauty in their travels, with its indelible memories outweighing any unfortunate event happening in all their family holiday travels.

“Instead of buying gifts for one another, we should be focused on creating memories with each other — an immaterial gift that will last far longer than this year’s Apple Watch.”

Instead of strengthening family bonds, many look forward to holidays to get a hand at things they’ve been meaning to buy. The article laments how the culture of consumerism and materialism has engulfed us, spoiling the true meaning of family holidays, wherein making memories together should suffice.

“OFWs sacrifice quality time with their loved ones by providing for them from afar. Each family has their own way of coping with that absence. Every shared moment, be it physically or through the aid of technology, encapsulates the spirit of Christmas for loved ones near and far.”

The article interviews overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) or those who sacrifice their time with loved ones to bring more income to their families. As Christmas has a special place in the hearts of all Filipinos, OFWs’ nostalgia is at its peak during this holiday when they cannot be home with family. OFWs in the article talk about their homesickness and how they cope at Christmas time.

Is it the critical aunt who might notice your added weight or the thought of celebrating the holidays in a remote place without internet access? First, cite the most common sources of holiday stress. Then, offer recommendations on how to put aside the nervous energy before and during the holidays.

You may also interview some friends to know their major sources of family holiday anxieties. Then, find out how they overcome them.

Narrative Essay on How I spent my holiday

Narrative essay generator.

Holidays hold a special place in everyone’s life, offering a respite from the routine of daily tasks and providing an opportunity to explore, relax, and create unforgettable memories. This year, I decided to spend my holiday in a way that was both enriching and exhilarating. I ventured on a journey to a small coastal town, renowned for its pristine beaches, rich culture, and vibrant local life. This narrative essay unfolds the experiences, discoveries, and personal growth I encountered during my holiday.

The Journey Begins

My adventure commenced with the excitement of traveling to a place I had never visited before. The anticipation built up as I packed my bags, ensuring I had everything needed for a week of exploration. The journey to the coastal town was a scenic delight, with winding roads flanked by lush greenery and the occasional glimpse of the ocean’s horizon promising a serene escape.

Exploring the Coastal Town

Upon arrival, the beauty of the town exceeded my expectations. The air was filled with the salty breeze of the sea and the streets buzzed with the energy of daily life. My first day was spent wandering through the town, taking in the sights and sounds. I visited local markets, where I marveled at the craftsmanship of the artisans and indulged in the town’s culinary delights, tasting dishes that were a fusion of traditional recipes and the bounty of the sea.

The Heart of Nature

The following days were dedicated to exploring the natural wonders surrounding the town. I embarked on hikes through nearby trails, each revealing breathtaking views of the landscape. The highlight was a trek to a secluded beach, accessible only by a narrow path through the cliffs. The effort was rewarded with a serene beach, untouched by the hustle and bustle of tourist spots. Here, I spent hours swimming in the clear waters, reading under the shade of palm trees, and reflecting on the simple pleasures of life.

Cultural Immersion

My holiday was not just about relaxation but also about immersing myself in the local culture. I attended a traditional dance performance, where the rhythmic beats and expressive movements of the dancers told stories of the town’s history and folklore. I also participated in a cooking class, learning to prepare local dishes that combined fresh seafood with exotic spices, gaining not only culinary skills but also insights into the lifestyle and traditions of the people.

The Bond of Friendship

One of the most unexpected and rewarding aspects of my holiday was the friendships I formed. Whether it was conversations with local residents, sharing stories with fellow travelers, or the camaraderie with the host of my accommodation, these connections added depth to my experience. Through these interactions, I gained a richer understanding of the world from different perspectives, reminding me of the value of openness and the universal language of kindness.

Reflections and Realizations

As my holiday drew to a close, I found myself reflecting on the journey. Beyond the relaxation and enjoyment, it was a period of personal growth and learning. I had stepped out of my comfort zone, challenged myself to try new things, and embraced the unfamiliar. This holiday taught me the importance of slowing down, appreciating the moment, and the joy of discovering new places and cultures.

My holiday in the coastal town was more than just a break from routine; it was a journey of discovery, connection, and personal growth. It reminded me of the beauty of our world, the diversity of its people, and the shared experiences that bind us. As I returned home, I brought back not only souvenirs and photographs but memories that will last a lifetime and a renewed sense of adventure, ready to explore what lies beyond the horizon.

The first thing I did was visit my grandparents who live in a small village. They have a big house with a garden full of fruits and flowers. Every morning, I would help my grandma water the plants. She taught me the names of different flowers. My grandpa and I would go for walks in the evening, and he would tell me stories from his childhood. I loved listening to his adventures.

Learning to Cook

During my stay, my grandma also taught me how to cook simple dishes. We made pancakes, cookies, and even a small cake. I enjoyed mixing the ingredients and decorating the cake with icing and colorful sprinkles. It was a messy but fun activity, and the best part was eating what we had made.

Reading Books

Playing with friends.

I also met some kids in the village and made new friends. We played many games like hide and seek, tag, and soccer. Playing outside in the fresh air was exciting, and we would play until the sun set. I felt happy and free running around with my new friends.

Learning a New Hobby

My uncle, who lives near my grandparents, is good at painting. I asked him to teach me, and he was happy to. He showed me how to hold a paintbrush and mix colors. I painted a picture of the sunset one evening. It wasn’t perfect, but I was proud of it. Painting became a new hobby for me to enjoy.

Helping Around

Conclusion: a memorable holiday.

My holiday was filled with new experiences and joy. I learned, played, and spent quality time with my family. It was a break from my regular school routine, and I felt refreshed and ready to go back to school with lots of stories to tell my friends. This holiday will always be a special memory for me.

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

My most memorable holidays

Trias 23 / 27   May 19, 2015   #2 Hi Naty, I would like to give some feedbacks on your essay: 1. We went back to the road to a attraction park called "Futuroscope" in the city of Poitiers. (I suppose you should change the collocation "to the road" into "on the road" 2. The place was amazing the attractions were all movies in 3D. (Lack of conjunction between "The place was amazing" and "the attractions were all movies in 3D". You could use "where", or "and" in between)

Paragraph On Holiday

Holidays are the most joyous time for every student. Let’s relive the joy through this short paragraph. Here’s how you can write a paragraph on holiday in English:

Everyone loves holidays, whether they are for one day or one month! Students especially look forward to their annual school vacation. They love that they don’t need to get up early for school and can get extra sleep hours. It’s a healthy break from a routine. Kids plan so many things for their holidays; some want to spend it with their cousins in their grandparent’s or relatives’ house. Some plan for a family holiday where they visit and explore new places. It is also a good time to learn new things or pursue new hobbies. Holidays are magical days full of fun and enjoyment.

Short Essay On Holiday

Kids love to talk about their holidays. Therefore, writing a holiday essay for classes 1, 2 and 3 kids is a joy. Here is a short essay on holidays for children:

Routine life is boring, especially for kids. Holiday is the magic word that gives them a break from their school routine. Whether it’s a short break or the annual holidays, every student eagerly waits for them. Holidays are when they can sleep late, wake up late and spend hours playing. Parents won’t rush them to complete homework. Nor would their parents stop them from playing extra hours. Some kids even invite their friends for sleepovers or movie nights. Most kids don’t get enough time to learn new sports or hobbies during school days. So, the holidays are the perfect time to learn how to play the guitar, go swimming or even join that reading club. Most families plan a get-together during long holidays. It is the time to visit new places and enjoy yourself with family. Holidays give us a break from everyday life to relax and rejuvenate.

Long Essay On Holiday With The Family In English

Here is a long holiday essay for class 3 students. Kids can read and learn from it to write a long essay on holidays for their school assignments. Here’s how you can write an essay about holiday with my family:

One thing that never fails to make us smile is the word holiday. Whether we are young or old, we all look forward to holidays. They are the perfect time to relax and take a break from our daily routine. Our days of leisure, are the most important and memorable days of our lives. Let’s understand how important are holidays and ways to enjoy them the most.

Importance of Holiday For Students And Working People

Everyone loves holidays. However, they hold a different level of importance for different people. For students, holidays are the time when they can do extra things apart from their studies. In their daily school lives, students don’t get much time to pursue their hobbies or interests. During holidays, they can explore a new interest or get themselves enrolled to learn new sports. Trying new things is important for a kid’s overall development. Kids also get more time to spend with their families and friends. So, holidays give them the perfect opportunity to do things they cannot do during school days.

Working people equally love holidays as young kids. Their long working hours and hectic lifestyle don’t leave them much time to relax or enjoy their hobbies. So, during the holidays, they relax and rejuvenate. They sleep in late, wake up late and enjoy the whole day with the family. During holidays, they can go on trips with family or friends to rejuvenate.

How To Make The Most Of Your Holidays?

To fully utilise the holidays, one should list what they want to do or don’t get to do on their normal days. It could be spending time with friends, learning a new hobby, or sleeping late. Then, as per the time and number of days, start ticking things off the list. A new hobby or sport can be learned if you have long holidays. For a short holiday of a few days, a family trip can be planned. Just remember your holidays are the time to enjoy, relax and have lots of fun.

What Will Your Child Learn From The Essay On Holiday?

An essay on ‘holiday’ is a great way to teach your child the importance of relaxing, unwinding, and improving their lives. Through this essay, they will also learn about various things they can do during holidays. While writing an essay on holidays, kids will learn the value of playing sports and learning new hobbies to become active and smart.

Some noteworthy points about holidays:

1. Why Is A Holiday Important?

Holidays are important as they give us time to relax and rejuvenate. During holidays we get more time with our near ones and can pursue our hobbies.

2. How One Can Spend His/Her Holiday?

One can spend their holidays in numerous ways. They can pursue their hobbies, learn new interests like singing, dancing, sports or arts, spend time with friends or go on a trip. The list is endless.

Holidays are best enjoyed when they are spent doing things we like or with people we love. They are the ideal time to learn or do extra activities, spend time with family and relax. Writing an essay on holidays will allow kids to explore their thoughts and desires related to this beautiful topic.

Describe a Memorable Holiday

Posted by David S. Wills | Jun 12, 2018 | IELTS Tips , Speaking | 0

Describe a Memorable Holiday

Today I’m going to show you how to form a good answer for IELTS speaking part 2. I will show you how to analyze the question, make notes, and then give a satisfactory answer.

Here is the cue card we will use today:

Describe a memorable holiday . You should say: when you went on this holiday where you went what you did and explain why it is memorable.

Normally, there isn’t much analysis needed for an IELTS speaking part 2 cue card; however, you still have to be careful to ensure that you correctly understand the task.

Above, I have underlined “memorable holiday” because it is what you need to describe. This means that it must be a holiday you can remember well – either for good or bad reasons! It also is a holiday and not the destination . You can’t simply talk about Paris for 2 minutes.

Apart from that, follow the suggested talking points as they are helpful.

You should make useful notes to help you speak fluently for 2 minutes. Don’t waste time writing too much, and never attempt to write full sentences ! You will simply run out of time. You only have 1 minute to make notes.

That means you should just write ideas and key vocabulary.

Here are my example notes:

essay my most memorable holiday

A Komodo Dragon

Indonesia Boat trip: Lombok -> Komodo Summer, 2016 Snorkeling, sightseeing, trekking Manta rays, komodo dragons, dolphins

Note that these only took a short time to write, but they are very useful for structuring a talk and reminding me of important words or phrases.

Sample Answer

Here is my sample answer to the above IELTS speaking part 2 question.

essay my most memorable holiday

In the summer of 2016, I visited Indonesia. To begin with, I was travelling with my friend, but then I took a boat trip alone. The boat sailed from the island of Lombok to a place called Komodo National Park, which is famous for being the home of the Komodo dragon – an amazing species of lizard. We sailed for four days and four nights on rough seas, but it was a beautiful trip. In the day time you could just relax and watch the islands go by, and at night you could see an incredible number of stars. Sometimes the boat would stop and we could go swimming or snorkeling. I swam with manta rays, dolphins, giant moray eels, and countless other fish. Sometimes you could go trekking on remote islands and climb to the very top to see the astounding views. It was a memorable experience for me because of the exotic wildlife and stunning views, as well as the feeling of being on the sea at night, under all those stars. width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen">

Notice how I included details about the trip without going off topic, and used descriptive language to express the things I saw and did. I also addressed all points on the cue card and used appropriate vocabulary and grammar.
