LudacusAfter weeks of rumours, Sony is finally ready to announces its new WF-1000XM4 – a follow up of its critically acclaimed 1000X series of True Wireless Earphones. The WF-1000XM4 features a new Integrated Processor V1 for active noise-cancellation, supports high-res wireless audio and an improved battery life of 8 hours with ANC turned on.
Sony is touting the active noise-cancellation on the WF-1000XM4 to be industry leading. It has built upon its previous QN1e chip with the new Integrated Processor V1 processor which has a noise cancelling performance and Bluetooth® ‘System on Chip’ technology. The Integrated Processor V1 consume less power than its predecessor but yet deliver better noise cancellation performance.
Audio-wise, the WF-1000XM4 features a newly designed 6mm driver unit with a 20% increase in magnet volume which improves performance in low frequencies and enhances noise cancelling by generating a high-precision cancellation signal to the low frequency range.
Besides industry leading noise-cancellation and excellent audio performance, the WF-1000XM4 also has a few smart features to give you an even smarter listening experience.
- Speak-to-Chat – automatically pauses the music and lets in ambient sound as soon as you speak to someone so that you can conduct a conversation without taking off your headphones
- ‘Quick Attention’ mode – simply place your finger over the left earbud to decrease the volume instantly and let ambient sound in if you want to listen to an announcement or say something briefly
- Adaptive Sound Control – a smart feature that senses where you are and what you’re doing – for example, travelling, walking or waiting – then adjusts ambient sound settings for the ideal listening experience
The headphones also come with instant pause and play for a seamless experience. Just take the earbuds out of your ears and the music stops thanks to a proximity sensor that detects when you are wearing one or both earbuds.
With more people working remotely, the Sony WF-1000XM4 also makes hands-free calling even better with Precise Voice Pickup Technology. Combining Precise Voice Pickup Technology with the microphones and a bone-conduction sensor, the WF-1000XM4 picks up your voice clearly and accurately for hands-free calls. Beamforming microphones are calibrated to only pick up sounds from your mouth.
The WF-1000XM4 earbuds are 10% smaller than the previous generation and the charging case is also 40% smaller. The case also supports Wireless Qi charging. It also has a IPX4 water resistance rating and 360 Reality Audio for an immersive audio experience.
The packaging for WF-1000XM4 is also plastic free and have been designed based on low toxicity design principles and a ‘Made to be remade’ philosophy that’s more socially responsible. To produce lower waste, 99% of the paper packaging, other than labels, are produced using recycled and sustainable materials developed specially for Sony.
Pricing and Availability
The WF-1000XM4 will be available in Black and Silver in Singapore at all Sony Stores, Sony Store Online and Sony Authorised dealers from June 2021 at a recommended retail price of S$ 379.
