క‌రోనా త‌ర్వాత ధ‌నుష్ సినిమాలు ఎక్కువ‌గా ఓటీటీ వేదిక‌ల్లోనే విడుద‌ల‌య్యాయి. దాదాపు ఏడాదిన్న‌ర త‌ర్వాత ఆయన నటించిన ‘తిరు’ థియేట‌ర్ల‌లో విడుద‌లైంది. త‌మిళంలో తెర‌కెక్కిన ‘తిరు చిత్రాంబ‌ళం’కి అనువాదం ఇది. 2019 నుంచే ప్ర‌చారంలో ఉన్న ఈ సినిమా అంచ‌నాల మ‌ధ్య ప్రేక్ష‌కుల ముందుకొచ్చింది.  మ‌రి చిత్రం ఎలా ఉంది? ధనుష్‌ పాత్ర ఏంటి?

క‌థేంటంటే: తిరు ఏకాంబ‌రం అలియాస్ పండు (ధ‌నుష్‌) ఫుడ్ డెలివ‌రీ బాయ్‌. చిన్న‌ప్పుడు హుషారైన‌, తెలివైన కుర్రాడే. కానీ, త‌న జీవితంలో జ‌రిగిన ఓ సంఘ‌ట‌న‌తో మధ్య‌లోనే కాలేజీ మానేస్తాడు. భ‌య‌స్తుడిలా మారిపోతాడు. త‌న తండ్రి (ప్ర‌కాష్‌రాజ్‌), తాత సీనియ‌ర్ పండు (భార‌తీరాజా)తో క‌లిసి జీవిస్తుంటాడు. చిన్న‌ప్ప‌ట్నుంచీ స్నేహితురాలైన శోభ‌న (నిత్య‌మేన‌న్‌) కుటుంబం కూడా అదే  అపార్ట్‌మెంట్‌లో కింద పోర్ష‌న్‌లో ఉంటుంది. ఒక‌రి గురించి ఒక‌రికి బాగా తెలిసిన ఆ ఇద్ద‌రి మ‌ధ్య దాపరికాలంటూ ఏమీ ఉండ‌వు. అనూష (రాశిఖ‌న్నా), రంజ‌ని (ప్రియ భ‌వానీ శంక‌ర్‌)ల‌పై తిరు మ‌న‌సు ప‌డ్డాడ‌ని తెలుసుకున్న శోభ‌న ఆ విష‌యంలో సాయం కూడా చేస్తుంది. మ‌రి తిరు చివ‌రికి ఎవ‌రిని ప్రేమించాడు? అత‌ని జీవితంలో చోటు చేసుకున్న సంఘ‌ట‌న ఏమిటనేది మిగ‌తా క‌థ‌.

ఎలా ఉందంటే: మ‌ధ్య త‌ర‌గ‌తి యువ‌త‌రం జీవితాల్ని ప్ర‌తిబింబిస్తూ సాగే ఓ ప్రేమ‌క‌థ ఇది. ఈ క‌థ‌, నేప‌థ్యం కొత్త‌దేమీ కాదు. కానీ, ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు తెలిసిన ఆ క‌థనే కొత్త‌గా, ఆస‌క్తిక‌రంగా భావోద్వేగాల్ని మేళ‌విస్తూ తీర్చిదిద్దారు.  ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధం తిరు పాత్ర‌, కుటుంబ నేప‌థ్యం ధ‌నుష్ ఇదివ‌ర‌కు చేసిన ‘ర‌ఘువ‌ర‌న్ బి.టెక్‌’ని గుర్తు చేస్తుంది. ఈ క‌థ‌లో స్నేహం, ప్రేమ వంటి విష‌యాలు ‘నువ్వే కావాలి’ని కూడా పోలి ఉంటాయి. స్నేహితురాలైన శోభ‌న‌తో క‌లిసి చేసే ప్ర‌యాణం... అనూష‌పై ఆక‌ర్ష‌ణ త‌దిత‌ర స‌న్నివేశాలు ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తిస్తాయి. ప‌క్కింటి అబ్బాయి, అమ్మాయి జీవితాల్ని చూస్తున్న అనుభూతి క‌లుగుతుంది. తిరు త‌న తాత సీనియ‌ర్ పండుతో క‌లిసి చేసే హంగామా న‌వ్విస్తుంది. క‌థానాయ‌కుడు త‌న త‌ల్లి గురించి భావోద్వేగానికి గుర‌య్యే స‌న్నివేశాలు ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్‌పై ఎప్ప‌టిక‌ప్పుడు ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తిస్తుంటాయి. ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్‌లో ఏముందో అనే ఆత్రుత క‌లుగుతుంది.

అక్క‌డ పెద్ద క‌థేమీ ఉండ‌దు కానీ, అది సినిమాపై చాలా ప్ర‌భావం చూపిస్తుంది. చిన్న చిన్న విష‌యాలు కూడా జీవితంపై ఎంత ప్ర‌భావం చూపిస్తుంటాయో ఆ స‌న్నివేశాల‌తో చెప్పిన తీరు మెప్పిస్తుంది.   ద్వితీయార్ధం సినిమాలో భావోద్వేగాలపై మ‌రింత ప‌ట్టు ప్ర‌ద‌ర్శించాడు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. అక్క‌డ తిరు, రంజ‌ని ప్రేమ‌క‌థ కీల‌కం. పల్లెటూరి నేప‌థ్యంలో సాగే ఆ స‌న్నివేశాలు అక్క‌డ‌క్క‌డా న‌వ్విస్తాయి. తిరు, శోభ‌న బంధం నేప‌థ్యంలో వ‌చ్చే స‌న్నివేశాలు ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాల్ని ఉత్కంఠ‌గా మార్చేస్తాయి. ఆ స‌న్నివేశాలు ఒక ద‌శ‌లో ‘తొలిప్రేమ‌’ని గుర్తు చేస్తాయి. కానీ, ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు వాటిని సినిమాటిక్‌గా కాకుండా, స‌హ‌జంగా తీర్చిదిద్దారు. ధ‌నుష్‌లాంటి ఓ పెద్ద స్టార్ ఉన్న‌ప్ప‌టికీ ఎలాంటి హీరోయిక్ స‌న్నివేశాలు లేకుండా... కొన్ని జీవితాల్ని ద‌గ్గ‌ర నుంచి చూసిన అనుభూతిని పంచేలా ఈ సినిమాని తీర్చిదిద్దిన విధానం మెప్పిస్తుంది.

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే: ధ‌నుష్, నిత్య‌మేన‌న్ పాత్ర‌లు సినిమాకి ప్ర‌ధాన‌బ‌లం. వాళ్లిద్ద‌రి మ‌ధ్య స్నేహం,  ఆ నేప‌థ్యంలో పండే వినోదం, భావోద్వేగాలు సినిమాకి కీల‌కం. ఎక్క‌డా నాట‌కీయత‌న క‌నిపించ‌కుండా,  ఆ ఇద్ద‌రూ పాత్ర‌ల్లో ఒదిగిపోయారు. భావోద్వేగాల విష‌యంలోనూ ఇద్ద‌రూ పోటీప‌డిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. ప్ర‌కాష్‌రాజ్ - ధ‌నుష్, భార‌తీరాజా - ధనుష్  మ‌ధ్య స‌న్నివేశాలు కూడా ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటాయి. త‌మ అనుభ‌వాన్నంతా రంగ‌రించి ఈ పాత్ర‌ల్లో ఒదిగిపోయారు భారతీరాజా,  ప్ర‌కాష్‌రాజ్‌. రాశిఖ‌న్నా పాత్ర ప‌రిధి త‌క్కువే. ప్రియ భవానీ శంకర్ పాత్ర కూడా చిన్న‌దే.  సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది. అనిరుధ్ సంగీతం చిత్రానికి ప్ర‌ధాన‌బ‌లం. పాట‌లు, నేప‌థ్య సంగీతంపై త‌న‌దైన ముద్ర వేశారు. నిర్మాణం ప‌లు ప‌రిమితుల మ‌ధ్య  సాగిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. ప్ర‌కాష్‌రాజ్‌, నిత్య‌మేన‌న్‌లాంటి న‌టులకి వేరొక‌రితో డ‌బ్బింగ్ చెప్పించ‌డంతో ఆ పాత్రల్లో స‌హ‌జ‌త్వం కోల్పోయిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది. ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు ఒక సాధార‌ణ‌మైన క‌థ‌ని ప్రభావవంతగా తీయ‌డంలో స‌ఫ‌లమ‌య్యారు. మాట‌లు బాగున్నాయి.

Thiri Movie Review

Before the press show of Thiri (Wick), the director, Ashok Amritharaj, addressed the audience. He had that "I am a student of cinema" air. ("If you like the film, tell others. If not, tell me. And I'll fix the mistakes in my next project.) Then, he spoke about the difficulties in releasing a film. How hard it is to find a date. How hard it is to find theatres. And even when you find theatres, they only give you the noon show, reserving the prime-time shows for bigger films. He said the theatre owners ask, "Who's going to see this film, especially with the increased ticket rates post-GST?" I felt for him. I also understood what the theatre owners meant.

It's hard to make a case for Thiri , whose protagonist, Jeeva (Ashwin Kakumanu), is one of those engineering students we've seen in a thousand earlier films. He takes on a corrupt politician. At the end, he says, " Padichavan kitta modhinaa enna nadakkum, paathiya ?" (See what happens when you clash with a graduate?) To get to this line, you'd assume there has been some serious application of the skills one acquires through education – maybe Jeeva invents a drone that spies on the politician. But no. It's the usual street smarts. You don't need a degree to do what Jeeva does. You just need a screenwriter who's watched a lot of Tamil cinema.

The story takes a long time to cohere. We have to deal with the heroine, Swathi (Swathi Reddy), who seems to be a contestant in a game show inside her head called Who Wants To Be The Next Hansika ? She wakes up late for work, and instead of rushing to the office, she saunters over to Jeeva's house across the road and asks for coffee.  Would you pay post-GST ticket rates for this?

There's an odd development when goons with sickles end up murdering a man as Jeeva and his friends run away, concerned only about their safety. It's only when he's affected does he begin to fight the good fight. There's something here about how we wake up only when trouble comes to our doorstep, but the director is either unaware of this subtext or uninterested. He seems happier shooting scenes where we get the rhyming dialogues Tamil cinema loves so much. " Annikku pasi -a irundhaaru. Innikku busy- a irukkaru ."

The sole star in the rating above is due to Jeeva's father, played by Jayaprakash. He's a schoolteacher. He writes "DISCIPLINE" on the board, and asks students to jot down the alphabetic position of each letter in the word. D is the fourth letter, I is the ninth, and so on. Add these numbers and what do you get? "100" I thought it was quite cool in a things-I-didn't-really-need-to-know way, but I'd have been happier making this discovery through a Facebook meme. But Jayaprakash has a comforting presence. Even when he lectures, we feel like listening to him politely as opposed to slapping him senseless. I wish this actor found better parts to play.

Theri review: Vijay is delightfully human, not his usual cold-face self

Theri has all the essentials one expects in a vijay starrer but central to the film is the father-daughter relationship and that’s where the film scores big..

When I walk into a Vijay film, I know exactly what I would be pounded with--cyclonic action, humongous heroism, nobility and syrupy romance. Vijay’s latest Robin Hood adventure, Theri, has all of these ingredients to make the movie into a masala that Indian cinema terms entertainment. In the first hour of the film’s run time of 158 minutes, I counted five songs and dances -- one of them with Vijay (playing Indian Police Service Officer, Vijay Kumar) and his lady love, Mithra (a Bengali name that Samantha sports), dressed in Arabian costumes! Here’s a curious case of imagination running wilder than the movie’s make-believe creation.

When Vijay is not swaying to the beat of the drums and the hum of the musical notes, he plays Mr Noble in Khaki, bumping off a powerful minister’s (Mahendran in his debut role, and what a fine piece of acting from a man who once directed classics like Uthiripookal and Nenjathai Killathey) son, because he molested and murdered a young Information Technology professional.

A shaken and shattered minister vows revenge which, as he says in his viciously terrifying voice, will be worse than death. Yes, death to Vijay’s wife -- Mithra had by then married the cop -- and his fun-loving mother, portrayed in her characteristic style by Radhika Sarathakumar. The couple’s daughter survives the bloody onslaught in a kind of incident that reminded me of Sholay and Gabbar Singh’s evil demolition of a happy family.

All this in Theri comes to us in a sequence of flashbacks, and the Tamil work’s opening shots are in Kerala, where Vijay in an assumed identity as Jacob Kuruvilla is playing papa, papa to his little daughter, Nivi (Baby Nainika, a brat whose smartness goes beyond cinematic liberty).

And Nivi’s teacher is Annie (Amy Jackson, in her usual wooden avatar, looking positively uncomfortable lisping Malayalam) who flips for Jacob and lets her inquisitiveness get the better of her. She finds out about Jacob’s past, but director Atlee keeps an important part of the man’s mysterious life for the final frame.

Beyond this, there is little novelty in a plot that only appears rehashed (probably for the nth time) with some annoying and ethically questionable police methodology. In this day and age, are we to go home after watching Theri where all that Vijay Kumar does is virtuous? Given the kind of fan craze one saw at the opening of the movie cinema must introspect on the kind of social message it spreads.

However, to be fair to Atlee and his Theri, I must say that he got Vijay into a rare emotional mould. The star actually cries a great deal more than he usually does. He has always had this tendency to mask his feelings with a cold, unexpressive face. This time, Vijay seemed delightfully human, essaying a very different kind of policeman, whose heart beats could be seen on his face.

Thiri Movie Review: Thiri Review, Thiri Movie Review, Thiri Audience Ratings, Thiri Film Review

Director Ashok Amirtharaj has set out to make a movie that questions the society of all the illegal ways that had become the norm in education system. And, he has pretty much won in every aspect by incorporating all those strong messages in a single man’s social drama and his quest to live up to his father’s expectations. While most films focus on an individual’s struggle against a big time villain and his political power, money, Thiri follows the most successful commercial route in Kollywood while infusing some much needed messages that make it a sensible flick to sit through. Starring Ashwin, Swathi in the lead, the movie is produced by Sea Shore Gold Productions and released by KR Films. Ashwin is doing his best to be an obedient and dedicated student so that his strict father Jayaparakash is happy. He’s even got a childhood love Swathi who’s madly in love with him. When his engineering college grants him a bad conduct certificate, he gets into a fight with a politician who owns the college. The David and Goliath fight begins from here which travels all the way to expose a lot of illegal activities carried out in colleges as well as the education industry as a whole. The familiar storyline and the friendly neighborhood setting in Thiri paves way for a very realistic experience. Ashwin has done his part responsibly and has the looks to be an obedient son. Swathi syncs with the story and the events than stick out as a glamor heroine which is great. For a veteran actor like Jayaprakash, the role is too easy and he impresses us. The main villain once again prove their mettle in the acting department while Arjai as the young and adamant son has come up with impressive characterization. The movie has decent camera work and music by Ajeesh is good in parts. The social message is what makes Thiri a worthy watch even though the run time could have been shortened a bit to deliver a tight experience. Thumbs Up • A strong social message by director Ashok Amirtharaj delivered in a commercial package • Ashwin, Swathi has great on-screen chemistry. Ashwin’s underplayed performance adds strength to the scenes • Jayaprakash does his best as a doting father yet again Thumbs Down • The run time should be shortened a bit Verdict  Thiri carries a sensible and strong social message for everyone

Devara First Review: Written and directed by Koratala Siva in his second collaboration with Tollywood's 'Young Tiger' Jr NTR, Devara, is ready to unleash his acting prowess on the big screen worldwide on September 27. Starring Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in their Tollywood debut, the movie is one of the highly-awaited and most prestigious films going to be released this year.

Devara Cast The movie stars Jr NTR aka Tarak as Devara. Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor are making their Telugu debut with Koratala Siva's directorial. Saif will be seen playing the role of Bhaira. In addition, the movie features seasoned actors: Prakash Raj, Srikanth Meka, Shine Tom Chacko, Murali Sharma, Narain, Kalaiyarasan, Chaithra Rai, and Abhimanyu Singh among others playing important characters.

Devara Crew Koratala Siva is the film's writer and director. Sudhakar Mikkilineni and Kosaraju Harikrishna are funding the project under their banners Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts. R Rathnavelu is cranking the camera, while A Sreekar Prasad is working on its editing. Anirudh Ravichander is on board to compose electrifying music and background score for Jr NTR.

The highly anticipated Ayudha Pooja song from NTR’s most eagerly awaited pan-India action drama, Devara, was scheduled to be released tomorrow morning at 11:07 AM. After the massive buzz created by Fear Song and Chuttamalle, all eyes are on Ayudha Pooja, composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

However, here comes a disappointing update for all the fans of NTR. Devara makers took to X and announced that the Ayudha Pooja song will not be released tomorrow. “AyudhaPooja is a MADNESS that deserves to be celebrated to the fullest. The song won’t be releasing tomorrow. We’ll bring you the SAME HIGH you’ve been waiting for!,” the makers tweeted. The new release date of Ayudha Pooja will be out soon.

Also starring Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles, Devara, a Koratala Siva directorial, is produced by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Mikkilineni Sudhakar, and Kosaraju Hari Krishna. The film will have a pan-Indian release on September 27.
