Creative has been making many right moves recently especially for its low-end series of products. The Creative Outlier-series in particular has been delivering great quality and value while under cutting the prices of most wireless headphones by established brands in the market. The Outlier ONE Plus is a follow-up of the popular Outlier ONE Bluetooth headphones which retails at just S$59.The Outlier ONE Plus at S$79 is a good S$20 more than its predecessor. To justify this increase in price, Creative has added a built-in MP3 player (which is capable of playing back FLAC, WAV, MP3 and WMA file formats) with a 4GB capacity, longer battery life (if you playback via MP3) and also mobile app support. Right out of the box, you would find the Creative Outlier ONE Plus Bluetooth headphones, 3 pair of ear tips in different sizes, 2 types of Secure-tips, a 0.25m USB Cable, a carry pouch and a quick start guide. Each of the accessory is individually packed and while there are not many bells and whistles for the package content, I find that it is pretty sufficient to get one going. When compared to the previous Outlier ONE headphones, the Outlier ONE Plus’ control pod is slightly bigger to accommodate the built-in MP3 player. The controls are easy to comprehend once you have gotten used to it.

To toggle between Bluetooth and MP3, simply press and hold the ♫ button for 2 seconds. To forward a track, press and hold the “+” button for 2 seconds and likewise to go back on a track, press and hold “-” for 2 seconds. Like the Outlier ONE, the ONE Plus features the same 6 mm Neodymium drivers that gives you deep tight bass and bright highs. It is surprising to see such a competitively priced Bluetooth headphones to provide such clarity and bass in its audio reproduction. We also found that the AuraSeal™ ear buds provided a decent amount of noise-isolation as well. If you loved the Outlier ONE’s audio quality, you would love the Outlier ONE Plus’ audio signature easily.

To help you navigate the audio files on the built-in MP3 player, Creative has added the Outlier ONE Plus as a supported device on its Sound Blaster Connect mobile app. Currently the app supports other Creative products like the iRoar Go, Sound BlasterX Katana, MUVO 2/2c and Chrono. The app is pretty straight forward, though we did have some issues getting it connected on the first try. Its best that you’re connected to the Outlier ONE Plus headphones first before firing up the app. Once connected, you will be able to browse through all the song files on the Outlier ONE Plus and to choose the play modes. You can down the Sound Blaster Connect app for iOS and Android

Honestly, the Creative Outlier ONE Plus is easy to recommend. While its SRP is S$79, we usually see it online on the Creative website going for S$59, a price which you don’t usually see on Bluetooth headphones from a reputable consumer electronic brand. Its sweatproof protection is perfect for those workout motivation moments and the built-in MP3 player brings back some old-school nostalgia.
