Slightly more expensive than ordinary caseCan be slightly thicker than normal cases
90%Maximum protection, minimum bulk.

If you have ever shopped for a mobile phone case, you would know that OtterBox is one of the more expensive trusted brand names in the market when it comes to case protection. After shattering my iPhone 11 Pro Max screen previously, I have been on the lookout for something to safeguard my S$2k investment for the next 2 years. Here’s where OtterBox comes in!

For this review, I will be reviewing the OtterBox iPhone 12 Pro Max Defender Series Case and the iPhone 12 Pro Max Symmetry Series Case.

iPhone 12 Pro Max Symmetry Series Case (Earl Grey)

Green has always been my favorite color (I even contemplated getting the green iPhone 12) so the Earl Grey case was my go-to color when it comes to the Symmetry series. Of course, if you are using a phone with the newest Pacific Blue color, it is perhaps better to get the clear case to show off the color instead of hiding it behind a covered case.

Some of the key features of the OtterBox iPhone 12 Pro Max Symmetry Series Case are:

  • Antimicrobial technology to protect the case exterior against many common bacteria (especially in the COVID period)
  • The case is infused with a silver-based additive that continually blocks microbial growth
  • Very Thin profile
  • Durable protection against drops
  • Raised edges protect camera and touchscreen
  • 5G compatible
  • DROP+ | 3X as many drops as military standard (MIL-STD-810G 516.6)
  • Works with Appleā€™s MagSafe charger and Qi wireless charging

The iPhone 12 Pro Max Symmetry Series Case is just a one-piece case that is made of Polycarbonate and Synthetic rubber which doesn’t add much weight or bulk to your iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The case also features raised edges around the ports to protect them from scratches. It however doesn’t have a covered flap that keeps the dust or particles from entering the ports.

Overall, I would say that if you’re looking for a fuss-free, slim profile case for your new iPhone 12 and you only need moderate protection for your daily usage, the OtterBox iPhone 12 Pro Max Symmetry Series Case is a good choice.

You can purchase the case here for S$64.90. For every case sold, OtterBox will donate $1 to the OtterCares Foundation. Learn more here.

iPhone 12 Pro Max Defender Series Case

If you are one who demands a lot out of your iPhone case or have really butterfingers, the iPhone 12 Pro Max Defender Series Case is made just for you.

Some of the key features of the iPhone 12 Pro Max Defender Series Case are:

  • Port covers prevent dirt, dust and lint from clogging jacks and ports
  • The holster works as a belt clip and a hands-free kickstand
  • Raised edges protect the camera and screen
  • 5G & 4G compatible
  • DROP+ | 4X as many drops as military standard (MIL-STD-810G 516.6)
  • Works with Qi wireless charging

The Defender case comes in 3 main pairs: the holster, rubber slipcover, and a polycarbonate shell. This Multi-layer defense gives your phone the maximum drop protection and the holster lets the case doubles up as a belt clip and hands-free kickstand.

The first layer of defense comes in the form of a polycarbonate shell where your new iPhone 12 will fit snuggly into.

Next, the shell is covered up by the rubber slipcover, which gives you additional shock protection in an event of a drop.

The slipcover also comes with port covers that prevent dirt, dust, and lint from clogging up the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s jacks and ports.

Lastly, you can choose to attach the holster to act as a belt-clip or hands-free stand. Personally, I found that attaching the belt-clip makes the phone a little too bulky for me. Therefore, I simply left it out as the holster is optional.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max Defender Series Case is available now at the SRP of S$88.90. For every case sold, OtterBox will donate $1 to the OtterCares Foundation. Learn more here.
